Martis fil. Elidis et Pisae Rex, Hippodamiae pater; qui, cum ex oraculo se a genero interfectum iri didicisset, et filia tamen a multis procis ab formae praestantiam ambiretur; curule certamen procis proposuit, eâ lege, ut filia victori in matrimonium cederet, victus mortem subiret. (Inde Pisaeique tori legem,, dixit Nemesianus:) Tredecim igitur victis et occisis, Pelops, Tantali fil. amore puellae captus, Myrtillum aurigam pretiô corrupit, ut axes infirmos et fragiles currui subiungeret. Quô factô Oenomaus una cum curru corruit, membrisque omnibus e ruinâ collisis, iamque morti vicinus, Pelopem precatus est, ut vicem suam ulcisceretur. Quare, cum Myrtilus pactum sibi perfidiae praemium a Pelope contumeliosius exigeret, ab eo in mare praecipitatus est; eôque modô et puellâ et regnô potitus Pelops, totam Chersonesum de suo nomine Peloponnesum appellavit.
